Jamie Hagar

MES Student

Jamie Hagar (she/her) is currently pursuing a Master’s of Environmental Sustainability at the University of Ottawa. Jamie holds a Bachelor’s of Environmental Science (with a focus on Environmental Geochemistry and Ecotoxicology), as well as a Postgraduate Certificate in Environmental Management and Assessment. Her interests lie within the scope of environmental law and policy, particularly in the context of Indigenous peoples and environmental conservation. She has experience working as a researcher in wildfire risk across Canada and as a laboratory technician in radiocarbon dating.

Jamie enjoys spending time outdoors, travelling, and being creative. She is currently taking part in an art-science initiative, led by the Kharouba Lab, to help visualize the effects of a changing climate on biotic interactions, with a focus on Monarch butterflies.

Jamie Hagar (elle) poursuit une maîtrise en durabilité environnementale à l'Université d'Ottawa. Jamie a complété un baccalauréat en sciences de l'environnement (avec une spécialisation en géochimie environnementale et en écotoxicologie), ainsi qu’un certificat d'études supérieures en gestion et évaluation environnementale. Elle s'intéresse aux politiques environnementales, particulièrement dans le contexte des peuples autochtones et de la conservation de l'environnement. Elle a travaillé comme chercheuse dans le domaine des risques de feux de forêt à travers le Canada et comme technicienne de laboratoire en datation au radiocarbone.

Jamie aime passer du temps dehors, voyager et exercer sa créativité. Elle participe à une initiative artistique et scientifique, menée par le laboratoire Kharouba, qui vise à visualiser les effets du changement climatique sur les interactions biotiques, en se concentrant sur les papillons monarques.
